Long Beach Theater Companies Begin 2012 Season

Local Long Beach Live Theater 2012 Season Begins…

The New Year has begun, and that means the local theater groups are launching their 2012 seasons. Here is a sampling of live theater shows opening this month in Long Beach:

International City Theater, at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center is beginning 2012 with the Tony-Award winning play “God of Carnage” written by Yazmina Reza. The show runs from January 24 to February 19.

Long Beach Playhouse, located right outside of Park Estates on Anaheim Street, is kicking off 2012 with their production of Neil Simon’s romantic comedy “Barefoot in The Park” in the Mainstage Theater. The Playhouse is offering a special community night on Thursday January 12th – price of admission for this night is “pay what you can”. Friday the 13th is a “half-price preview” night. Opening night is January 14 and the show runs until February 11.

Long Beach Playhouse will also present “Orson’s Shadow” by Austin Pendleton in the Studio Theater. Opening night is January 20and the show runs until February 5.

The Found Theater, located Downtown on Long Beach Blvd is reprising their popular holiday show “Somberton Senior Residence Presents ‘The Nutcracker’”. Opening night is January 6 and it runs until January 22.

The All American Melodrama, located in Shoreline Village is opening 2012 with “Beverly Hillbillies 90210”. Opening night is January 13 and the show runs until March 4. This is a cabaret-style, family friendly experience with food and beverages available.

There will be more shows from Musical Theater West and California Repertory Company beginning in February. I know I can’t wait to get out there and support our local theater groups.

See you at the shows!
