Valentine’s Day Ideas in Long Beach, CA

It’s that time of year again, when the stores bring out heart shaped boxes of chocolate and florists suddenly start charging a lot more for red roses. Many of us celebrate this occasion with an expensive dinner out with our sweetie, share valentine’s candy to our co-workers, (and some refuse to acknowledge it altogether).

If you’re thinking about going out tonight, but don’t know where to go, here are a few ideas to get you started:

There is no shortage of great restaurants in Long Beach offering special Valentine’s Day menus. You can trip the light fantastic at the Sky Room, enjoy fine cuisine on the rooftop deck at Michael’s on Naples.

For a fun take on the traditional “dinner and a movie” date, there is a great option on the 4th St. Long Beach website.  “Treat your date to a fabulous meal… at Lola’s Mexican Cuisine. Owners Luis and Brenda are offering a 3-course dinner for 2 (appetizer, main dish, and dessert), including a house bottle of wine & two movie passes for $44.95! RSVP now at: 562.343.5506.”  Harold and Maude starts at 9:30pm at the Art Theater across the street.

If you’re looking for something even more romantic, you can book a gondola ride through Naples with Gondola Getaways, enjoying a basket of wine and cheese, and gazing at the stars (and into the beautiful homes on the canals).

Tonight the Aquarium of the Pacific is open until 9pm with discount entrance after 5pm ($14.95 for adults). There is a “multi-course gourmet dinner” available as well.

The Laugh Factory is hosting a “My Funny Valentine” event. There are a few ticket options available online, including a “sweethearts package” so it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for something less traditional.

If you’re looking for something sweet to do without breaking the bank, the El Dorado nature center is hosting Valentine’s night walk from 7-9pm (adults only) in which you can explore the trails after dark. Admission is $5 and requires pre-registration. This looks like a fun (and inexpensive) Valentine’s Day outing.

However you choose to spend your evening, enjoy!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
