Tartans, Veils, and Beads in Long Beach, CA

Tartans, Veils, and Beads in Long Beach this weekend!

Where else but in Long Beach can you attend highland games, watch bellydancers, and catch beads at a parade on the same day? This weekend, downtown Long Beach is hosting three great events that are sure to be a good time.

The Queen Mary is home to the annual Scottish Festival again this Saturday and Sunday. There will be many fun things to watch, such as Scottish highland and country dancing, historical re-enactments, and sheepdog herding competitions. Sample authentic Scottish foods, ales, and single malt whiskey, while basking in the crisp sea air.  Tickets can be purchased online at https://events.admitoneproducts.com/tkt_sales.php?test=true&event_id=376012

The Bellydancer of the Universe competition presented by Tonya and Atlantis will be at the Long Beach Convention Center this weekend. Doors are open to the public from 10am-4pm and from 6pm-10:30pm on Saturday and Sunday. There will be classes and competitions in several styles and categories throughout the event. On Saturday, February 18th, Long Beach Mardi Gras will return to Rainbow Harbor, bringing with it a nod to the Venetian Carnevale. The parade begins at 3pm at the Aquarium of the Pacific and ends at Shoreline Village. There will be gondola rides from Gondola Getaways at Rainbow Lagoon’s Carnevale of Venice between 12 and 2:30pm, and a pre-parade celebration and lineup at 2pm. A Samba show will be at Shoreline Village at 4pm and live music from 1-7pm. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and bring their cameras – there will be great photo opportunities!
